South Yards is a thoughtfully designed 8-acre master-planned community that blends modern architecture with vibrant outdoor spaces. The development features sleek high-rise towers, a centrally located 1-acre urban park, and a dynamic mix of residential and commercial spaces. Contemporary interiors include open-concept layouts, integrated European appliances, and high-end finishes such as quartz countertops and laminate flooring. Amenities cater to a variety of lifestyles, with social lounges, a games room, a gym, and outdoor recreational areas, including bocce courts and garden plots. With its pedestrian-friendly design and seamless integration of green spaces, South Yards offers a perfect balance of urban convenience and natural tranquillity.
FKD Studio brought the vision of South Yards to life—highlighting urban energy, artistic identity, and connection to place.
FKD Studio was engaged to produce a series of high-end visualisations for South Yards by Anthem, with a focus on showcasing the site’s prime location within Burnaby. A key challenge was representing the scale of the future multi-phase development while keeping the viewer’s attention on the current-stage towers. To solve this, we developed a unique glass block effect to represent the undetailed future buildings—offering a sense of volume and site context without the distraction of traditional ghosted forms. In addition to core architectural imagery, we created storytelling visuals that highlighted the development’s proximity to the SkyTrain station and featured the distinctive giraffe sculptures that will become a public art centrepiece. These visuals not only elevated the marketing narrative but also helped communicate the broader vision of South Yards as a vibrant, connected urban community.

FKD Studio brought the South Yards story to life on screen—merging cinematic storytelling with architectural animation to create a film full of energy, artistry, and vision.
FKD Studio collaborated with Provoke Studios to bring the South Yards film to life—an ambitious and visually rich piece that blended live-action footage with high-end animation. While Provoke led the filming and editing, FKD Studio was responsible for all animation work, including an intricate multi-shot buildup sequence that combined fully 3D environments with carefully tracked plate shots. A standout moment in the film featured FKD’s animation of the sculptural giraffes being introduced to the site—walking through the frame in fully CG shots before settling into their final resting positions. The film was the result of a seamless, hands-on collaboration between FKD and Provoke, culminating in a final product that was extremely well received. FKD Studio’s work on the South Yards film earned a nomination for Best Commissioned Film of the Year at the prestigious CG Architect 3D Awards—placing it among the top three architectural films globally, out of hundreds of entries. While we didn’t take home the award, the nomination alone stands as a huge honour and a testament to the impact of the work.
